Market Update

8/19/26 :

10 Year Treasury Bond - 4.68%

- The 10 YR treasury doesn't seem to be cooling off and homebuyers are not getting any slack in mortgage rates.

Inflation Rate - 3.4%

- The inflation rate has actually came down 0.1% from 3.5% to 3.4%. However, this stat does not tell the whole story. Since the United States abandoned the Gold Standard in 1971 our buying power with the dollar has depleted as fast as the national debt has risen.

Gold - $4,420.90

- Speaking of Gold look at that price. Investors typically run towards gold and silver when inflation is on the rise. In 2020 the price of 1 troy ounce of gold was $1,896.00, today in 2026, the same ounce costs $4,420.90. For those of you who have never actually went and bought an ounce of precious metals I challenge you to go to your coin and bullion store and see how stupid that is. In 1970, still during the gold standard, the average trading price of gold was $36.02 per ounce.

Oil - $92.42/barrel

- With American battleships blockading the Strait of Hormuz I do not see the oil price going down anytime soon. It also doesn't help that Russia is also in its own war with Ukraine, another major producer of oil.

Panama City Median Sale Price - roughly $300,00.00

- Many sellers are beginning their listings at $330k-$340k range.

My opinion :

This is not investment advice. Just a market update, you can make your own decisions. I just think it is important for entrepreneurs to get a sense of macroeconomics so we can make wise decisions in our microeconomics. My opinion is that everything will continue to rise because it has to. This does not mean put your money in and watch it go up. It means that we need to price our sales accordingly, build products that are in the market range, and invest our money in sectors that are hedges against inflation.
